typically most people who get snakebites will do a fourteen (most belly button or tongue rings). i have seen them done at sixteen though, but thats for people who want a smaller stud. (the smallest ive seen is 20, which is the same size as a nose ring) if the gauge itself doesnt matter to you, i know that others have gone by lip size. people with fuller lips will get a larger gauge, and people with smaller lips will get a smaller gauge.

normally they either pierce you with a 14g or a 16g.
so i would probably get one of them..
